Travel on rural Los Angeles and Ventura County highways at night can be hazardous, especially when other motorists make unpredictable moves. A driver can glance at a cell phone and veer into an occupied lane. Motorists can misjudge headlights as they make a turn and end up leaving oncoming traffic without time to stop to avoid a crash.
These frightening collisions leave drivers and passengers at risk of traumatic injuries. In the worst instances, those injuries can quickly become life-threatening.
Ventura County Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Outside of Santa Clarita
A man tragically lost his life after an accident involving a big rig in Los Angeles County early Thursday morning. It happened on February 9, 2023, a few miles from the Ventura County line. The Ventura County Star reports the collision occurred on Highway 126 near the intersection of Wolcott Way. That’s west of Santa Clarita and the I-5 junction.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene sometime after 3:30 a.m. Investigators say that a Santa Paula man driving a Volkswagen sedan struck a semi’s tractor-trailer as the truck was attempting a U-turn. The scary collision also involved a third car, a Honda sedan.
The Santa Paula man involved died at the scene. He was 30 years old. No other injuries were mentioned in the report.
The CHP closed lanes of the highway for several hours as they worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Earning Support for Ventura County and Los Angeles County Accident Victims
Families left to mourn the loss of a loved one in an accident can seek justice and protection for the future. They are encouraged to file a wrongful death claim against at-fault drivers. This claim assists close relatives in paying for burial and funeral costs. It can help with ambulance fees and other emergency services fees.
A spouse or a child of the deceased can file a wrongful death claim against an at-fault driver’s insurance company on behalf of the rest of the family. This claim can earn support to protect the family and help replace the guidance and income the victim will no longer be able to contribute each month.
A deadly collision caused by a truck driver can bring additional support options for families who should be safeguarded at such a difficult time. The truck driver’s commercial truck insurance company would be asked to supply victimized families with the help they need. The driver’s employer may also be liable for a careless accident. A trucking company’s insurer may have to contribute to the support of close relatives. A Ventura Truck Accident Lawyer helps families identify every party who may be held responsible.
